Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that APB: All Points Bulletin™ is on sale in North America and has shipped to retailers around the world. APB will be available to buy at retail in Europe on July 1 and in the UK on July 2.

Get Tough on the Streets of San Paro in the Year’s Hottest Online Action Game

DUNDEE, UK – June 29, 2010 - Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that APB: All Points Bulletin™ is on sale in North America and has shipped to retailers around the world. APB will be available to buy at retail in Europe on July 1 and in the UK on July 2.

APB, recently nominated for Best PC Game by 1Up.com at E3 2010, takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcers and brings it to a persistent, open-world, online multiplayer setting in the modern, crime-ridden fictional city of San Paro. Some players achieve notoriety by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses … the Criminals. Some live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations … the Enforcers.

“APB shipping to retail represents the fruits of five-years hard work from everyone here at Realtime Worlds,” said Dave Jones, Creative Director of Realtime Worlds. “We’re delighted that APB has launched and look forward to seeing how the player-base drives the San Paro story forward through urban conflict and in-depth customization.”

APB has already achieved critical acclaim from the press, with accolades such as:

“Original, daring and exciting.” PC Zone

“APB could well be the definitive action game.” IGN.com

“APB innovates to dominate.” NowGamer.com

“It’s going to be something else. Truly something else.” Guardian.co.uk

“It’s a great source of pride for us to work with Realtime Worlds in the launch of APB, a game that defines a new genre in online multiplayer action,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, EA Partners. “We look forward to seeing how the streets of San Paro will be shaped over time by the creativity of its virtual citizens.”

APB is rated 18 by PEGI and M for Mature by the ESRB. APB is available from leading retailers and online from www.apb.com and www.eastore.com at a standard retail price of $49.95 / RRP £34.99 / €49.99. The game includes 50 hours of action gameplay plus unlimited time in APB’s social districts customizing, socializing and trading in the marketplace. Once the 50-hours are up, players have flexibility: top up their game time from as little as $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, or opt to purchase a 30-day unlimited package for only $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days. APB also provides avenues for accomplished gamers or creators to earn rewards for their creativity and subsidize their ongoing costs with their in-game efforts.

Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that APB (All Points Bulletin™) will be released for the PC on June 29 in North America, July 1 in mainland Europe and July 2 in the UK.

Summer global release set for year’s hottest online action game

Dundee, UK — April 30, 2010 — Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that APB (All Points Bulletin™) will be released for the PC on June 29 in North America, July 1 in mainland Europe and July 2 in the UK. APB takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcers and brings it to a persistent, open-world, online multiplayer setting in the modern, crime-ridden fictional city of San Paro. Some players will achieve notoriety by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses — the Criminals. Some will live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations — the Enforcers. This dynamic where players become the core content for other players is one of the many unique features of APB.

“We’re delighted to finally be announcing the release date for APB, and we’re looking forward to welcoming players on to the mean streets of San Paro,” said David Jones, Creative Director of Realtime Worlds. “Gamers will soon get to experience a world of unparalleled customization, conflict and celebrity – whether they choose to be a Criminal or an Enforcer.”

Founded by industry legend David Jones, creator of Lemmings, Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 and Crackdown, Realtime Worlds’ latest project, APB, introduces a unique payment model defined by three core concepts: value, flexibility and no commitments. Players pay precisely for time spent in the game’s action districts.

Gamers can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price of SRP $49.99, £34.99, €49.99. The game includes 50 hours of action gameplay out of the box plus unlimited time in APB’s social districts customizing, socializing and trading in the marketplace. Once the 50-hours are up, players have flexibility: top up their game time from as little as SRP $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, or opt to purchase a 30-day unlimited package for only SRP $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days. In addition to this flexible payment model, players can also earn game time by actually playing the game. APB provides avenues for accomplished gamers or creators to earn rewards for their creativity and subsidize their ongoing costs with their in-game efforts.

“We wanted to provide a simple and flexible way for occasional and core players alike to pay for their play without being financially tethered to the game,” Jones said. “The model also provides an opportunity for customers to subsidize their costs by leveraging their talent or market savvy in the ‘points’ Marketplace. Highly talented players could potentially even play for free in this way.”

Customers can pre-order the game from leading retailers and online from www.apb.com and www.eastore.com. Pre-order incentives include early access ‘APB VIP’ game time, access to the ‘Key to the City’ demo, exclusive in-game Asylum Upgraded Criminal Car and Enforcer upgraded Patrol Car, C.S.A Enforcer and Asylum Criminal clothing, ‘Chicken’ and ‘Strike-a-pose’ exclusive Emotes.

“It’s an honor to be working with Realtime Worlds to bring an exciting and original new IP to PC gamers,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, EA Partners. “We’re confident that the action and customization in the game will prove to be a huge hit.”

APB is rated 18 by PEGI and is not yet rated by the ESRB. Please visit www.pegi.info for more information.

DUNDEE, Scotland — Oct. 2, 2009 — In a bid to find the technology stars of the future, the Tech Media Invest 2009 (TMI) programme came to its conclusion last night at the Emirates stadium, with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) awarding the Hottest Prospect award to Realtime Worlds (RTW).

This young, Dundee-based, technology company specialises in video gaming, employing cutting edge software to enable players to compete against each other online – using customised avatars, vehicles and weapons. Their latest project All Points Bulletin (APB) is being heralded as a huge step forward in persistent multi-player online gaming. Founded by Dave Jones, RTW boast a talented team of 300 with a tremendous history of creating some of the world’s best-selling video games, including the original Grand Theft Auto, Lemmings and more recently, the double-BAFTA winning, multi-million seller Crackdown.

TMI showcases outstanding technology and media companies in the UK, with over 50 presentations from young, fast growing companies, and is sponsored by PwC. Up against RTW for the award were Adjug, Comufy, Huddle, and Slicethepie.

“Realtime Worlds impressed with the innovative technology behind their games, the quality and vision of their management team and the sheer energy and enthusiasm of their wider employees,” said Brian Henderson, director, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and one of the judges. “Video gaming is a fast growing $42 billion worldwide industry which spans many platforms. The structural shift to digital makes this industry even more exciting and filled with opportunity for great companies such as RTW.”

The PwC Hottest Prospect award focuses on those companies showing promise to be the next big thing in a digital world where new apps and technologies are changing on an almost daily basis.
Those shortlisted were selected for their high growth potential, based on their submissions, presentations and in depth interviews throughout the summer.

“Realtime Worlds are delighted to have won the Hottest Prospect award at Tech Media Invest 2009,” said Gary Dale, CEO, Realtime Worlds. “This is an exciting period for the company as we head towards the launch of APB next year. We are thrilled that the judges appreciated the potential for the company and our people and share our corporate vision, ambition and our enthusiasm for APB.”

RTW opens additional office space to house continued growth

DUNDEE, Scotland — Aug. 27, 2009 — Realtime Worlds, the leading independent video game developer, proudly unveiled its latest office space with an open evening tonight. The 8,000 sq ft premises in addition to its existing 26,000 sq ft location allow the company to continue to grow towards a successful APB launch in early 2009, currently standing at 265 in Dundee, with that set to grow to in excess of 300 by the end of the year.

Studio manager Colin Macdonald explained the importance of the evening: “When we opened our current facility less than three years ago we hadn’t yet shipped our first game. Since then we’ve had tremendous commercial and critical success, and have done the lion’s share of the work towards a successful launch of our online title APB. This additional space allows us to continue to grow at the pace needed to attain the quality of a game like APB, and build the infrastructure required to support its online launch.”

Highly Anticipated Persistent Online Multiplayer Game Coming to PC in Early 2010

Redwood City, CA – June 1, 2009 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Realtime Worlds, Inc. announced today that they have entered an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement for North America and Europe that will bring the highly-anticipated All Points Bulletin™ (APB) to PC in early 2010. Founded by industry veteran David Jones, creator of Lemming’s, Grand Theft Auto 1&2 and Crackdown, Realtime Worlds’ latest project takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcement and brings it to a persistent, open world multiplayer setting in a modern, crime-ridden city.

“After a few years of quietly working on APB I’m extremely excited to be able to show it publically for the first time” said David Jones, Founder and Creative Director of Realtime Worlds. “To also be able to announce our marketing and distribution agreement with EA Partners at the same time is the cream on top. It’s very evident that EA Partners are clearly in-sync with our vision for APB and between us we aim to ensure gamers understand why it’s unique, and share our excitement”

“Throughout his career David Jones has continually forged new creative paths in interactive entertainment,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EA Partners. “David and the team at Realtime Worlds are set to do it once again with APB. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with them in introducing online persistence to 3rd person, open-world action games and defining a new category within the genre.”

APB is a new breed of online game. Set in a persistent living, breathing open-world urban environment where fame and fortune awaits all players. Some players will achieve this by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses…the Criminals. Some will live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations…the Enforcers. ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, today announced the signing of Realtime Worlds, a leading independent video game developer and publisher, to a three-year agreement for services supporting the launch of its first online game: APB (All Points Bulletin). Realtime Worlds will be using a combination of Internap’s Performance IP™, Content Delivery Network (CDN), premise-based route-optimization technology and international data centers to support its rapidly growing business – one increasingly focused on the online gaming sector.

“Ramping up thousands of concurrent online users worldwide is no simple task,” said Realtime Worlds Vice President of Online Operations Rob Rice. “Doing so requires connectivity services proven to be reliable and robust. Internap stood out from the crowd because it offers a unique solution of intelligent, route-optimized IP and CDN distribution, combined with expertly managed data center facilities in locations ideal for mission-critical distribution to our global audiences.”

The Realtime Worlds team has a history of creating some of the world’s best-selling video games, including the global hit franchises Crackdown, Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. The company’s latest release and first online game, APB, is a city-based community game where players choose between playing criminals or enforcers in pursuit of thwarting their crimes. “As avid game players, we believe the future lies in online gaming. Persistent worlds with hundreds of thousands of players will offer an unrivalled experience that action gamers have yet to enjoy. We have an innovative concept and unique technology that will deliver new possibilities to the online game market,” said Rice. “Our relationship with Internap solidifies our commitment to becoming a world-class online game publisher.”

“Internap has proven once again it has a strong solution for companies requiring their content to traverse the public Internet with split-second speed,” said Randal Thompson, Vice President of Global Sales at Internap. “Online game publishers know they cannot risk players experiencing latency, jitter or lag during online game play. Our Managed Internet Route Optimizer, patented architecture used in both our IP and CDN services, provides our customers with 100 percent uptime guarantees. Online game publishers understand how important it is to provide users with The Ultimate Online Experience. They recognize Internap as the company with the unique service package able to deliver on that promise.”

About Internap’s patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO)

Internap’s MIRO technology monitors the performance of every major Internet backbone, intelligently routing traffic across the best path to provide faster and more reliable content and data delivery than traditional routing methods. The Internap route-control technology considers path characteristics like latency, packet loss, route stability and congestion when making routing decisions. This technology continually analyzes the traffic situation on each Internet backbone. Decisions are made dynamically and automatically to account for network performance changes, without the need for manual intervention. Advanced analytics are used to probe and benchmark all known points on the Internet through each bandwidth carrier and continuously adjust the routes that the content uses to reach the end-user.

Company rewards the best staff with the best benefits package

Dundee, Scotland — April 7, 2009 — Realtime Worlds, the leading independent video game developer, announced today that is now offering paid overtime to its developers. This is on top of one of the most generous benefits packages in the industry which includes profit sharing, share options, flexitime, private medical insurance, life insurance, pension package, income protection, carers and emergency leave, relocation assistance, childcare voucher scheme, and discounts on personal computers and bikes.

“The games industry has long depended on getting excessive amounts of free overtime out of its developers, which in the long run just serves to drive them to another field,” said John Duthie, head of Human Resources. “We want to ensure that Realtime Worlds is always very attractive — both creatively and financially — to our staff, and offering paid overtime is only fair when products of the standards we demand require more effort than is sometimes possible 9 to 5.

“Whilst, like the rest of the industry, we’re lucky enough to have a number of individuals who are happy working crazy hours just for the pride in the games they’re creating, it’s gone down well being able to reward that more directly. And for those with families, knowing the overtime often required to finish games will be paid for means it’s a lot more palatable at home.”

Realtime Worlds currently has over 40 vacancies, listed at www.realtimeworlds.com.

About Realtime Worlds

Founded in 2002 by CEO and Creative Director David Jones, alongside gaming industry veterans Ian Hetherington and Tony Harman, Realtime Worlds is one of the largest and most successful independent game developers in the world. In 2006, Realtime Worlds received a US$31 million investment commitment from New Enterprise Associates, one of the world’s leading venture capital firms. This investment enabled Realtime Worlds to develop new and innovative videogame franchises and recruit top game development talent from around the world.

In an exclusive partnership with Microsoft Game Studios, Realtime Worlds launched its first title, “Crackdown”, on Xbox 360 in early 2007. The debut game broke records for demo downloads, sold approximately 1.4 million copies, and won multiple awards including prestigious BAFTA and Develop Industry Excellence awards.

In April 2008 Realtime Worlds announced that it has raised US$50 million in Series B funding. The renowned investment firm Maverick Capital led the new investment round with existing investor New Enterprise Associates and WPP, a world leader in marketing communications services.

Realtime Worlds is currently working on All Points Bulletin (www.apb.com) which is a persistent, online action game with a contemporary setting that focuses on customization, competition, and fame.

Boulder, Colo. and Dundee, Scotland — April 1, 2009 — Realtime Worlds, the leading independent video game developer, announced today that it has boosted its Operations team in Boulder, Colo. with the high profile appointments of Will Leverett as Director of Customer Service, and of Patrick Bays as Manager of Game Operations.

Will Leverett has worked for the past 11 years in the online game service industry in various roles at Origin Systems/Electronic Arts and NCsoft North America. He brings to RTW experience on a dozen shipped MMO titles, working with each development studio to assist them in preparing their product to be an online service.

Leverett has significant experience in numerous facets of an online persistent world: building teams to administer and support online games, ensuring an open line of communication with players, developing support infrastructure, combating fraud and farming activities, and working with communities and support teams around the world via a virtual environment.

Patrick Bays has previously held positions at Origin Systems, NCsoft and Turbine Entertainment. During his tenure at Turbine he worked on several MMOs, including the launch of Lord of the Rings Online (Shadows of Angmar & Mines of Moria), and was ultimately Network Operations Manager where he was responsible for ensuring minimal downtime for all live services.

Bays will design a robust and fully scalable publishing platform that will deliver content to our customers with minimal service interruption.

“Our developers are making an unbelievable game in APB; it’s my job to make sure it’s available to our players,” Bays said. “As a gamer myself, I don’t find six or eight hours downtime every week acceptable, so our system will allow our players to enjoy our games round the clock.”

Rob Rice, VP of Online Operations, said, “We’re rapidly building up our Operations capability towards a successful launch of APB and beyond, and are delighted to have Will and Patrick’s experience as part of the company to allow us to achieve that.”

Other positions available at Realtime Worlds are listed at www.realtimeworlds.com, including a number of contract positions which come with a competitive package, 12-month contract, Visa costs paid, return flights paid, free quality accommodation, free healthcare, paid overtime, and paid holiday.
