Get Tough on the Streets of San Paro in the Year’s Hottest Online Action Game

DUNDEE, UK – June 29, 2010 - Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that APB: All Points Bulletin™ is on sale in North America and has shipped to retailers around the world. APB will be available to buy at retail in Europe on July 1 and in the UK on July 2.

APB, recently nominated for Best PC Game by 1Up.com at E3 2010, takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcers and brings it to a persistent, open-world, online multiplayer setting in the modern, crime-ridden fictional city of San Paro. Some players achieve notoriety by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses … the Criminals. Some live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations … the Enforcers.

“APB shipping to retail represents the fruits of five-years hard work from everyone here at Realtime Worlds,” said Dave Jones, Creative Director of Realtime Worlds. “We’re delighted that APB has launched and look forward to seeing how the player-base drives the San Paro story forward through urban conflict and in-depth customization.”

APB has already achieved critical acclaim from the press, with accolades such as:

“Original, daring and exciting.” PC Zone

“APB could well be the definitive action game.” IGN.com

“APB innovates to dominate.” NowGamer.com

“It’s going to be something else. Truly something else.” Guardian.co.uk

“It’s a great source of pride for us to work with Realtime Worlds in the launch of APB, a game that defines a new genre in online multiplayer action,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, EA Partners. “We look forward to seeing how the streets of San Paro will be shaped over time by the creativity of its virtual citizens.”

APB is rated 18 by PEGI and M for Mature by the ESRB. APB is available from leading retailers and online from www.apb.com and www.eastore.com at a standard retail price of $49.95 / RRP £34.99 / €49.99. The game includes 50 hours of action gameplay plus unlimited time in APB’s social districts customizing, socializing and trading in the marketplace. Once the 50-hours are up, players have flexibility: top up their game time from as little as $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, or opt to purchase a 30-day unlimited package for only $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days. APB also provides avenues for accomplished gamers or creators to earn rewards for their creativity and subsidize their ongoing costs with their in-game efforts.

Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that APB (All Points Bulletin™) will be released for the PC on June 29 in North America, July 1 in mainland Europe and July 2 in the UK.

Summer global release set for year’s hottest online action game

Dundee, UK — April 30, 2010 — Realtime Worlds, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that APB (All Points Bulletin™) will be released for the PC on June 29 in North America, July 1 in mainland Europe and July 2 in the UK. APB takes the universal theme of Criminals and Enforcers and brings it to a persistent, open-world, online multiplayer setting in the modern, crime-ridden fictional city of San Paro. Some players will achieve notoriety by feeding on the city, its people and its businesses — the Criminals. Some will live by a higher code and instead feed on the criminals and their organizations — the Enforcers. This dynamic where players become the core content for other players is one of the many unique features of APB.

“We’re delighted to finally be announcing the release date for APB, and we’re looking forward to welcoming players on to the mean streets of San Paro,” said David Jones, Creative Director of Realtime Worlds. “Gamers will soon get to experience a world of unparalleled customization, conflict and celebrity – whether they choose to be a Criminal or an Enforcer.”

Founded by industry legend David Jones, creator of Lemmings, Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 and Crackdown, Realtime Worlds’ latest project, APB, introduces a unique payment model defined by three core concepts: value, flexibility and no commitments. Players pay precisely for time spent in the game’s action districts.

Gamers can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price of SRP $49.99, £34.99, €49.99. The game includes 50 hours of action gameplay out of the box plus unlimited time in APB’s social districts customizing, socializing and trading in the marketplace. Once the 50-hours are up, players have flexibility: top up their game time from as little as SRP $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, or opt to purchase a 30-day unlimited package for only SRP $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days. In addition to this flexible payment model, players can also earn game time by actually playing the game. APB provides avenues for accomplished gamers or creators to earn rewards for their creativity and subsidize their ongoing costs with their in-game efforts.

“We wanted to provide a simple and flexible way for occasional and core players alike to pay for their play without being financially tethered to the game,” Jones said. “The model also provides an opportunity for customers to subsidize their costs by leveraging their talent or market savvy in the ‘points’ Marketplace. Highly talented players could potentially even play for free in this way.”

Customers can pre-order the game from leading retailers and online from www.apb.com and www.eastore.com. Pre-order incentives include early access ‘APB VIP’ game time, access to the ‘Key to the City’ demo, exclusive in-game Asylum Upgraded Criminal Car and Enforcer upgraded Patrol Car, C.S.A Enforcer and Asylum Criminal clothing, ‘Chicken’ and ‘Strike-a-pose’ exclusive Emotes.

“It’s an honor to be working with Realtime Worlds to bring an exciting and original new IP to PC gamers,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, EA Partners. “We’re confident that the action and customization in the game will prove to be a huge hit.”

APB is rated 18 by PEGI and is not yet rated by the ESRB. Please visit www.pegi.info for more information.

Jenny Keir

Partner of Jonathan Garner

I first came to Dundee almost two years ago when my boyfriend was offered a job in QA at the company. It was his first job in the industry and neither of us had been to Dundee before so it felt like a big risk to move up here but I knew that it was a great opportunity for him to come to Realtime Worlds so we agreed to make the move together.

When we first arrived the company were really friendly and helped us both out. They gave us accommodation as part of the relocation package in one of company flats for 6 weeks while he got settled in and I began to search for a job. I found that there were plenty of jobs in the city and quite a few further away too but I was keen to avoid too much travelling so I was pleased when I found a job close to the city centre.

When we came to look for our own place to live we pretty quickly found a flat close to the city centre. The flat was quite nice and a lot cheaper than our previous place had been! Money was a little bit tight because of all the moving but the company were very supportive and helped us to sort out the money for our deposit. All in all things went rather well.

Since moving in things have got even better. We’re now engaged and planning to get married next year. My boyfriend has been promoted and I’m still enjoying my job too. Sometimes I feel like I’m a long way from home but my family are always happy to visit Dundee and I’ve got used to driving home to sort out my wedding plans with my mum! I won’t say it’s always been easy but the company have always been helpful and we’re both settled here now. We certainly don’t regret making the move up here.

DUNDEE, Scotland — Oct. 2, 2009 — In a bid to find the technology stars of the future, the Tech Media Invest 2009 (TMI) programme came to its conclusion last night at the Emirates stadium, with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) awarding the Hottest Prospect award to Realtime Worlds (RTW).

This young, Dundee-based, technology company specialises in video gaming, employing cutting edge software to enable players to compete against each other online – using customised avatars, vehicles and weapons. Their latest project All Points Bulletin (APB) is being heralded as a huge step forward in persistent multi-player online gaming. Founded by Dave Jones, RTW boast a talented team of 300 with a tremendous history of creating some of the world’s best-selling video games, including the original Grand Theft Auto, Lemmings and more recently, the double-BAFTA winning, multi-million seller Crackdown.

TMI showcases outstanding technology and media companies in the UK, with over 50 presentations from young, fast growing companies, and is sponsored by PwC. Up against RTW for the award were Adjug, Comufy, Huddle, and Slicethepie.

“Realtime Worlds impressed with the innovative technology behind their games, the quality and vision of their management team and the sheer energy and enthusiasm of their wider employees,” said Brian Henderson, director, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and one of the judges. “Video gaming is a fast growing $42 billion worldwide industry which spans many platforms. The structural shift to digital makes this industry even more exciting and filled with opportunity for great companies such as RTW.”

The PwC Hottest Prospect award focuses on those companies showing promise to be the next big thing in a digital world where new apps and technologies are changing on an almost daily basis.
Those shortlisted were selected for their high growth potential, based on their submissions, presentations and in depth interviews throughout the summer.

“Realtime Worlds are delighted to have won the Hottest Prospect award at Tech Media Invest 2009,” said Gary Dale, CEO, Realtime Worlds. “This is an exciting period for the company as we head towards the launch of APB next year. We are thrilled that the judges appreciated the potential for the company and our people and share our corporate vision, ambition and our enthusiasm for APB.”

RTW opens additional office space to house continued growth

DUNDEE, Scotland — Aug. 27, 2009 — Realtime Worlds, the leading independent video game developer, proudly unveiled its latest office space with an open evening tonight. The 8,000 sq ft premises in addition to its existing 26,000 sq ft location allow the company to continue to grow towards a successful APB launch in early 2009, currently standing at 265 in Dundee, with that set to grow to in excess of 300 by the end of the year.

Studio manager Colin Macdonald explained the importance of the evening: “When we opened our current facility less than three years ago we hadn’t yet shipped our first game. Since then we’ve had tremendous commercial and critical success, and have done the lion’s share of the work towards a successful launch of our online title APB. This additional space allows us to continue to grow at the pace needed to attain the quality of a game like APB, and build the infrastructure required to support its online launch.”

Realtime Worlds currently has over 40 vacancies, listed at www.realtimeworlds.com.

DUNDEE, Scotland — July 1, 2009 — Realtime Worlds, the leading independent video game developer, announced today that Joshua Howard has joined the company as Program Manager. Joshua was most recently an executive at Hidden City Games, a virtual world/games portal company based in Seattle. Prior to that he was studio head of Carbonated Games, Microsoft’s casual games studio, having been at Microsoft for 15 years.

As the Program Manager, Joshua will be responsible for coordinating across RTW’s numerous functions (development, operations, marketing, business development) and with its external partners to successfully deliver the APB online gaming experience to millions of gamers.

Joshua commented “I was drawn to Realtime Worlds because they had the expertise and experience to deliver on their ambitious goals. I am very pleased at the chance to be a part of Realtime Worlds, to help ship APB, and to be working with the tremendously talented people here focused on the vision of creating great games.”

Realtime Worlds currently has over 40 vacancies, listed at www.realtimeworlds.com.

About Realtime Worlds

Founded in 2002 by Creative Director David Jones alongside gaming industry veterans Ian Hetherington and Tony Harman, and recently joined by CEO Gary Dale, Realtime Worlds is one of the largest and most successful independent game developers in the world. With an exceptionally talented staff of more than 250, its experienced teams have a tremendous history of creating some of the world’s bestselling video games, including the global hit franchises ‘Lemmings’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’.

Realtime Worlds launched its first title, Crackdown, on Xbox 360 in early 2007. The debut game broke records for demo downloads, sold approximately 1.4 million copies, and won multiple awards including prestigious BAFTA and Develop Industry Excellence awards.

Realtime Worlds is currently working on All Points Bulletin (www.apb.com), a persistent, online action game with a contemporary urban setting and themed around celebrity, conflict, competition and creativity. In June 2009 Realtime Worlds entered into an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with EA Partners to bring APB to PC in early 2010.
